Title: Depressed by lack of horsepower?
Post by: Ken T on 23 November 2006, 22:46:47
Having a browse, as you do, I came across this helpful site, 'www.regal-shop.co.uk', which for a very reasonable amount of dosh, will enable you to boost the power of a standard 2.2 engine up to 260BHP. That would certainly make all the V6 people take notice ;D. Not quite Lotus Omega/Carlton standard but heading that way. Mind you it doesn't say how long the engine will last doing that ;D ;D ;D

260bhp??

From the 2.2??

 ;D ;D

That will be a supercharger kit then!

Either that or Regal will find themselves up on misrepresentation charges!  ;)

260 BHP I'd be happy with the 150 BHP it's supposed to have.

Took a 1.8 Zafira out on Tuesday - full of 7 adults - had more pull at 70+ MPH and returned 32 MPG. :o

260 from a 2.2litre -- nope sorry i dont buy that.

EITHER very dear or if it does work it will reduce the life of your engine  :-?

Rubber crankshaft - that's the clue......

I also came across a site showing a Lotus Omega hitting 300KPH. Funny how some cars become Icons. Someone, I believe, put a Lotus engine into a UK Omega. Now as standard there is little enough room( where am I going to fit all this LPG Kit I just bought?), but to put in a straight 6 plus the turbo's, etc,  there can't be any space left. Ah I got it, take out the washer bottle. ;D
Cheers Ken

Yep, 's been done. Remember that the Omega's somewhat similar to the Carlton and Senator under the skin, so there is enough room, The only thing that got in the way was the windscreen wiper assembly.

There's someone else on the Autobahnstormers putting a stright six engine into an Omega who's cambelt snapped.

An AR35 should cope, an R28 would be best though and both should bolt straight on.

If I win the lottery I will fit one. Are there any suitable 5 speed autos which would work?

Try these and tell me what you would do?

Riding on a bike, car pulls out, you fly over top left knee takes a big hit.

Long time later, walking in garden stumble, stand on edge of a paving stone, here loud crack from ankle, cannot walk. (also casulty took forever so I came home).

After that I have never been able to happily drive in traffic in a manual, I can walk, run (a bit) ride pedal or motor bike, but lots of clutch work knackers my left ankle

Apparently the bottom end is all forged steel. Brilliant engine.
Speaking of regal i wouldn't let the tune my lawnmower not an engine. My mates mr2 turbo was tuned by them before he bought it and was running like a bag of shit. He took it then to the people that build and tune the noble engines and they found the ignition timing 14 degrees retarded at peak torque and overfuelling at full power. Disgracefull!!!

i find it a bit challenging installing this plant on the omega given the fact that the turbo sits on the back of the engine. It could be done but it would be costly.
