Title: Sunday morning test drive.
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 03 April 2016, 19:45:27

Nice little coupe with reasonable performance.

Despite being a year older than my car the dealer wanted the Signum and £6495. :-\

Do all the dealers in your area run and hide when they see you coming? "This is gonna be a waste of an hour and a gallon of petrol. Tight bastard never buys anything".  ;D

I'm going to Barnsley next week to see if there are any decent cars for sale. :) :)

Yes. An Astra ticks all the boxes.

I've decided to be sensible and dull from now on. :)

The thing is this.

I have a little money that that I want to spend.

I like squandering it on ridiculous items.

Is it my fault I'm impulsive. :)

I've told you before what you are......indecisive. Make your mind up what it is you want, remembering that nothing (within your budget) will tick all of the boxes....buy it....drive it. Stop coveting other people's cars and love the one you've got (will get).

Reasonable performance  ;D, they absolutely fly.   :y

I've had a few of these in the M Sport but much prefer the 'd' to the 'i'.  :y

Agreed too much cash for so many miles. 😀😀 + the MOT history shows in my opinion an "unloved car"

Front end doesn't look too bad, But the side and rear don't (not forgetting the bland interior), If anything looks like a girly car.

I was just about to say that - with my commute about to double (to about 650 miles a week) for six months or so I was looking around for something efficient, diesel.. and a 335d would be a lovely way to do the commute.

Of course after buying the house I'll be turning out my pockets to find pocket fluff to eat, let alone the purchase price of one ;D and a diesel Note is probably a better bet (55-60mpg and a quarter the price)  :'(

Where are you heading to, Aaron?

Northampton (which is where the girlfriend lives & works) - assuming everything goes through, of course - bit of a juggling act with mortgages, solicitors, fitting a new bathroom and all sorts at the moment (not to mention a big holiday in the middle!).

The original plan was I'd be home based three or four days out of five as the rest of my team at the time I was hired was 100% home based so I figured that would be no problem.. until my boss dropped the "no, we want you to be office based as part of our strategy". Nearly asked when we would be replacing the two US home-based people but decided that would probably end badly for me!

So .. six months of a long commute and then I can change roles internally to one that's home based, or look for something in the big smoke as that's only an hour by train from there.

;D Well, if I suddenly go (more) crazy ;) (Crazier than the 2-3hr commute is likely to make me, anyway!)

6 speed auto with paddles so perhaps the performance suffers as a result. Slightly quicker than my Signum but not by much.

It's an older one admittedly but my E92's would do 0-60mph in around five and hit the speed limiter with ease in a short distance. If you test drove a 'd', from 30 mph'ish up to a ton there is nothing between them and an E92 'M', which is why I prefer the 'd'.  :y
It should have annihilated your Signum without breaking sweat. The autos are quicker and more economical so something wrong with that one.  :-\
I have an F32 (8 speed auto) now and it takes something pretty quick to beat it off the lights so something definitely wrong there.  :-\

Edited to add:
Just looked at the tech spec of that one and that is shite compared to a later 'd'.

Statistically the 335i and Signum are not a million miles apart.

250 BHP against 300 BHP.........258 ft lb against 295ft lb.

Yes it did feel more muscular but it wasn't a night and day difference. :y

Have a go in one and be converted to the devil juice.  ;) :y
