Moto GP is about to start so I won't dig out the story - but I beleive GPS usage along with cruise has been used as a valid defence against radar "evidence" in Magistrates court.
-
But is it uphill or downhill? My understanding is that the GPS devices are based on travelling along a consistant height thus meaning that if it was uphill or downhill, then false ort innacurate speeds are recorded....
Be surprised if it held good in the UK..... :(

Just had a dig about for the original story and can't find it - so I'll shut up about that one.
Moto GP was fantastic. Valentino Rossi is a legend in the making. IMO.

Thought he had made it already?
Enjoyed the race. Was a rather spectacular highside at the start.... LooKnee - did you watch this? Get your knee down in the wrong place at the wrong time and you would make a heckuvva dent in the floor matey.... :D

and stoner is nothing but a whinger with no class.he said after the race that rossi,s riding way beyond what is acceptable and nearly put him on the floor several times.he also hinted that rossi brake tested him on the corner where he fell of. a true racer would have said that it was a brilliant race and the best man on the day won. >:(

And? His reaction to this alleged brake was what?
To me, if you are in the front then you dictate the pace you want to ride at. If someone in place 2 or place 3 can see a means to get past you at a corner because of your reduced speed, feel free.
Its all about reaction to what unfolds in front of you and to take advantage (or react) where you can or have to. If you fail to do this, at the correct time, then its your loss and any complaints on that score should be considered sour grapes....
/tuppenceworth..... ;)
Apologies :-[ ..... Us admins are meant to keep threads on track round here, not drag them off at an ultra sharp tangent...... :-X
The OP should be nicked..... blatant speeder, thats wot he is..... :o

Admns should let threads live free - let them evolve.... otherwise the forum is a stifled place. Within reason of course.
OT- but if Casey was a bit more mature he would have held back 0.5s till the last few laps. Rossi's manoeuvres would have been irrelevant and Casey would have possibly won. In the end, the best man did.
Casey will probably be duly humbled by his comments, if not he doesn't deserve to be champion.

Agreed.
To me, he should have refrained from being so close up Rossi's harris that he stifled himself a tad. If he gave a wee bit free space between the two of them, who knows what advantage could have evolved and, more importantly, would he have binned it into the gravel at the same time???
Here endeth the sermon from the current armchair champion..... 8-)

apoligies for dragging you off on sharp tangent H21 ;D. but fully agree with your sentiments. looked like a case off target fixation (with rossis rear wheel) he had to run off track to avoid hitting it.for someone who apparently has the first bike with engine mapping which knows every corner of the track and adjusts the engine characteristics accordingly to fall off at walking pace and then blame the bloke in front beggars belief. ::).......as for the kid speeding, dont know all the circumstances so :-X....which makes a change i know. ;)

The device measures real-time speed every 30 seconds and can be configured to send an email message to the owners if the car reaches speeds of 70mph or over.
Crikey! If they'd been around when I was 18 my parents would have had a pretty full inbox. :-X
I guess if you're arguing between 62 and 45 MPH accuracy of +/- a few MPH doesn't really come into it. Something has clearly gone very wrong with one of the measurements and I guess the GPS will have logged his speed for a period before and after the event in a form that he couldn't have tampered with. If that shows him pootling along at 45MPH it becomnes difficuly to argue that he was doing 62.

Moto GP is just so much more exciting than F1.
The Rossi and Stoner battle was great to watch.Sometimes F1 can be like watching paint dry.
