Title: Some ppl do the oddest things
Post by: 78bex on 09 April 2016, 00:47:25
Pulled into my usual haunt at Langestone harbour today to scoff my sarnies.

Only to find a lady on her hands & knees, with dust pan & brush in hand sweeping up the public slip-way  ???
At first I thought maybe all the black sacks she`s filling with dead weed etc might be used on her garden or summat  :-\ but no she filled about 10 bags worth & then I noticed about 6 more bags placed  by the rubbish bin.
She was havin a right old barney with her self too, she didn`t stop yapping once.
The swans were looking at each other WTF.

Keeping the slipway weed free is actually an important maintenance task... All too easy for people and vehicles to slip or lose traction on that fluffy green muck.

Her huffing and tutting is probably at the fact that she has been lumped with doing it... If a public slip, then presumably it's the task of the local authority :-\ might also be a Parish Council responsibility, hence her involvement ;)

People are all well to quick to pass judgement without stopping a moment to consider other people's behaviour...

It may also be a mental condition (I don't mean that in a nasty way, I mean as in an illness) as there is an old lady around our way that does the same to roads and pavements. She sweeps up, rain or shine, with no shoes on.
She appears to be arguing with someone although nobody is there but she also walks down town chattering to herself. If you saw her you would know that in the nicest possible way she is genuinely barking.
It's a brain disorder, quite sad really as it could happen to any of us.  :-\

The lady in your case may have just been a genuinely nice lady who likes a tidy surrounding or suffering from the same thing as the lady I mentioned. Who knows?  :-\

In my line of work I meet a lot of people who are, to use my grandma's wonderfully outdated term, "not right". The key is to approach the "nice but dotty" ones differently to the "I'm going to kill you because Steve told me to"... :y

If you think that makes you jealous, you should see what it does to his mate Frank... :-X

You wouldn't believe how unbearable a seven foot tall skull faced rabbit can be :o

Wasn't that tragic accident where the entire family, less an infant that was handed out through a broken window, drowned because the driver attempted a 3 point tunrn on a slipway and slid in to the water?

I could see someone taking it up on themselves to clean up a slipway near them after hearing about that horrible mess.
