A looong time ago, that Ruski became the first Human Astronaut in Space.

Being as I am of unsound mind, I feel more for Laika than I do the human astro- and cosmonauts. Not to diminish their undoubtedly great achievements (and I did get a bit fizzy when I saw a Space Shuttle up close), of course.
