Hi, hope somebody can help me with this issue. I had what appears to be a fairly common issue with my 2002 2.2 petrol, the engine light (one with spanner) would come on intermittently whilst driving but would not effect performance at all. It would then go off and come back as and when. Reading through the posts on here it seems that this was most likely a cam sensor problem, so I decided to replace and bought a pattern part off a Vauxhall specialist website. After I had replaced the cam sensor the engine was difficult to start and kept cutting out, I then read that people insist on a genuine Vauxhall part (Siemens one). I therefore repeated the process and put the old sensor back in and now the engine runs fine once more but the engine light is on permanently. Is this now simply a case of ordering a replacement Siemens unit and the fault should be fixed?
Thanks

Might need fault codes cleared, get new sensor and go from there :y
-
Yeah that was my thoughts, does anyone know where I can get a genuine part from? Thanks again

Although its said many times on here that the pedal trick doesn't work on the 2.2,
I saw a post here a couple of months ago saying it does if you put the car in "D"
Must get hold of my old 2.2 to have a go :-\

Humm, I've never tried pedal trick with my 2.2 manual in gear, might give it a try.

Just done the pedal trick got code 1555 any ideas???
-
So code p1555 is throttle position Sensor and nothing to do with cam sensor as originally thought. Is this an easy fix?

clean breathers and throttle body. Check for air and vac leaks.

So the pedal trick worked. Was that In "D" ? ..Go on get out there again and do it in "P" Then tell us the result :y
-
First I tried it in P and it didn't work so put it into D and hey presto it worked a treat. Mine is a 2002 2.2cd
-
Magic :y You need to claen breathers and Throttle body next...Dead easy :y Follow that guide

Needs Tunnie to unplug his MAF now and trip a code up ;D ;D ;D

Right, another twist. I have just completed the throttle cleaning process as described and there was a lot of crud in there so glad I did it. Upon starting the engine I still have engine light on, when I repeat the pedal trick to identify the fault code it does not give me anything??? Is this now a case of disconnecting the battery to reset the Ecu?
Many thanks for all who have helped with this, I know it must be testing your patience, maybe even as much as mine 😀

Have just tried pedal trick again and it is showing 1555 still so same as before I cleaned the throttle. Would this have reset or will I need to get it reset? Also, will disconnecting the battery work? Thanks
