So I thought I heard a rear spring go on me the other day. Had a butchers today and springs all good on front and rear fortunately. Wonder what the twang was that I heard.
Anyways I do think I need donut bushes. Quite a bad creaking from the rear passenger underneath when going over humps.
I've read the guide. Experience I've had though relatively limited tells me this job won't be that easy. I remember rear axle bushes on an Astra that were a nightmare even with good access.
Just looking at methods for getting these out. As I'll be on a ramp I figured I'd just blast them with my air hammer. Will this work? I remember on the Astra just hammering the hell out of them with a chisel bit in the air hammer and eventually they popped out.
Your thoughts. Just want to do it as easy as possible.
Oh and where does one purchase the bushes for them. I presume poly would work?

You should let the passenger sit in the car 8)
Getting them out isn't too bad, I pried mine out with a claw hammer and then a pry bar. This was on axle stands although some more leverage would have been good. This won't be a problem on a ramp. Rather than spend ages hammering away if they don't come out, I would cut a couple of slots in the case first.
The new ones slipped in easily after a good squirt of silicone spray.
AGP had them in stock, and were about £20 each

Serek did mine a few days ago,up on the ramp,job took around 25 minutes,made it look easy :y

Ps Nick, when u say cut slots in the case I presume u mean the bushing has a thin walled metal sleeve round it... Like the Astra axle bushes did that I mentioned

The new ones slipped in easily after a good squirt of silicone spray
Don't use silicone spray, allows bush to move once fitted, use a water based lube, bit of washing up liquid if you must.

I used a screwdriver to get the damn thing going, I then rammed in a brake calliper tool. I expanded it so it pushed the old donut out, popped out a treat :y

Washing up liquid is my preferred lube.

That's a really good idea tunster. I presume u mean the calliper rewind tool? And the part shaped like a brake pad draws it out as the end pushes it out against the chassis?

Did mine the other day, first side 1 hour other side 20 mins :y axle stands and crow/lever bars :y

Large flat screw driver and a small crowbar is my prefered method.Done 8 of them this way all on axle stands and once they start its just a matter of keeping applied pressure as they remove as being thick rubber have a tendancy to retract on themselves whilst removing.
Universal lub from swearing is what I apply and after giving them a good thump to get back in they then can be fully pushed in with the triangular plate inverted and pumping up and down on a trolley jack does the job.
Ensure you fit them in the same orientation they were removed in as per the guide as they will not support properly if not
