Title: Well, that's a pretty crappy week then
Post by: Lazydocker on 20 April 2016, 10:04:38
I have suddenly found myself with an abundance of time on my hands. My business has gone under and the head office role I was doing has been pulled out from under me! >:(

Got a few ideas knocking about but now desperately seeking work before things get worse... Not been paid anything for 8 weeks (for various reasons) so anything considered! Anyone heard of anything?

Just for reference - Please DO NOT mention the company name as I do not want to help them with SEO at all :y :y

Really sorry to hear about this bud  :(

Pretty much out of the business scene nowdays but If I hear of ANYTHING, i'll get in touch  :y

Is there a still a market out there ?

Might be too soon but then again, he who strikes first and all that ............   ;)
Maybe get business off some of the independent garages ?
You know the business now and more importantly, people in the business and the pricing structure / costs involved ?

Sorry to hear this mate  :(

Apologies if I get this wrong, but you were working under a franchise? Can you not run independently?   :-\ (assume you have thought already about this) - But just wondering if you have the contacts of stations and guys who worked for you if this was an option?

Guess anything over my way is out of the question due to distance.  :'( - What kind of work are you looking for?

To answer the questions. There was a plan to have head office run my franchises temporarily because I was at a point that I could not recover from the crippling losses of the last few months. The deal wasn't done but we had started sorting the assets side out as I was personally liable for all of the vans. The General Manager has gone behind my back and shafted me. The owner and I have decided to part amicably because the GM has it in for me. There's a lot more but that's a brief outline.

I have a meeting this afternoon with a direct competitor, which sounds like a done deal apart from the financial aspect, but I'm not sure I want to be on call 24/7 any more! Several irons in fires at the moment though, just covering all bases really :y

Have another meeting this evening with someone else who may have something useful...

Tunnie, was all set to apply to BSB as a fitter because they were advertising here (IP12) but it looks like the position has already been filled.

I will consider anything and always have my HGV (Cat C) license to fall back on, although I don't have a digi card or drivers CPC at the moment.

Cpc can be done in a week if you get your finger out, (in the nicest possible sense ;)), even getting a couple of modules would be seen as a start. Digi card takes as long as it takes to process the form... mine took a week iirc ;)

Again, having submitted the forms before you apply, you're showing potential employers that you are aware of the requirements and are showing initiative  :y

Stansted or Southend might be worth a look for temporary work... it's getting to that time of year, and catering firms are always looking for seasonal class 2 drivers ;)

Local bus company as well... get your pcv for 'free' and adds another string :y

Digi card is just a form and cheque, dqc is 35hrs of training.
Class 2 work is in abundance, all multi-drop, or haib (need a ticket),
Maratime is class 1, v-good money for tramping, 13+15hrs every day, easy £700+ pw, need to be less than 25 miles from a depot. Or as your in box jockey land, just go and knock on any haulage company's door. Class 1 tho.

It's not a done deal but the meeting was good. Surprised me with what he wants to offer :y

Oh... And an invitation for a hospitality visit to Donnington Park this weekend to see the owner in action racing the Porsche Cup Car they sponsor :y

I had no idea you was struggling tbh
Last I heard, you was raking it in  :-\

Glad you've landed on your feet Paul  :)

How's the back these days?

How's the back these days?

Still in pain but it's now under control  :y

If I overdo it, it will normally be OK after a night's sleep now whereas before I would have been crippled for days!

Good day out yesterday, until some idiot in an Audi R8 decided to just ram the Porsche in the last race... Didn't see it as it was out of sight but I did see one of the wheels come into sight :o

Driver (and the person I was invited/requested to meet) ok but it looks pretty unlikely that the shell will race today, if again.

Great day though, lovely slap up dinner. Little one got to sit in the car and will be appearing on the website :y

As for the job... I don't count anything as certain until it's in writing but it looks pretty positive :y

Well, if it goes to plan, presumably you'll be in a better place than you have been for a while? So out of the ashes...  :y, fingers crossed.

What about the liabilities of the franchise? If I read correctly, they didn't take it on?

Thankfully a limited company. Ceased trading so in 3 months can apply for a strike off.
