Title: Banjo Bolts
Post by: gbh on 21 April 2016, 20:06:43
Need to replace banjo bolts after oil cooler replacement the question is there seems to be 2 part numbers one for the cooler and one for the bridge, but one stockist says the bridge ones are no more.So will the cooler ones do for both as they might have to? Stockists?

Its been a while since I did one, but Im pretty sure they are slightly different lengths.
Might be possible to cut the longer ones down to length ?

Well the bolts arrived today and there is a difference which i've not seen mentioned before,Firstly the bolts that came off to me seemed identical. The part numbers i looked for were the oil cooler bolts 90424578 bolt seems the same says Made in Ireland. The coolant bridge bolts number 12992646 has a 18mm head with a 25mm flange. So begs the question have i got the right parts?

Just found the old receipt from when I replaced the oil cooler on my old MFL Elite and I replaced the bolts.

12992646 are the hollow bolts for the coolant bridge.
90424578..are the bolts for the oil cooler pipework.

Word of advise is only do them up to required torque as being a hollow bolt they arent as strong as a solid bolt, but part numbers seem fine to me.Remember you have a washer on each side of the bolts so 4 on the coolant bridge and 4 on the oil cooler banjo bolts.

When replaced leave sealant to set for 24 hours before you put any coolant into the car.

Best of luck  :y
