I think "Disturbed" are correctly classified as a "Heavy Metal" band ??

They are - that's a very atypical "unplugged" sort of track for them.
-
It started off a little low-key and then I got sucked in - it could certainly grow on me! :y
Thanks Nige.
Ron.

I love Disturbed and have seen them a couple of times, they have done a few covers over the years on albums, sometimes it`s a hidden track at the end of the CD.
I think David Draiman absolutely nailed it on the Sound of Silence, it`s a fantastic cover and the way it builds through the song is just sublime 8)

He has a very good voice :y

Agreed, Mr. Gav. My comment wasn't intended to be negative - far from it. I hadn't heard of that band or singer before, so it's great to add another piece of niceness to my listening pleasure.
It did take a while to forget how Simom and Garth's Uncle sounded and get into it, but a much better version from "Disturbed" and for me, the definitive performance.

I didn`t take it as a negative comment Ron, I totally agree with you that it`s a bit low key to start with and just builds as the song goes and his voice is fantastic :y

That slow-build tecnique reminded me of a jazz band I heard in Houston some years back: they started with one instrument - sax or clarinet, nothing else - and slowly added other instruments to build and build, finally with the drummer coming in. The anticipation and delayed gratification were magic - just like this man.

I love songs like that, Dream of Mirrors by iron Maiden is similar, each verse builds until it`s full steam ahead in the last verse

I tried to get that on Youtube, but it wouldn't play.......

My lads into Disturbed in a big way and is always trying to get me to listen to them :-\
Looks like his is going to get his way ::)
Not a fan of covers but that goes down as one of the best i've heard in many years :y
If you fancy a different version of Leader Of The Pack, have a listen to Twisted Sisters version :y
You might be surprised ;)
-
Like The Sisters of Mercy doing Jolene, a cover should be different to the original. Otherwise what is the point of doing it?
-
tungsten. wonderful stuff i have a small ingot of it as a mega paperweight. it's nearly twice the weight of lead for the same volume (and almost identical density to gold).

Two things, I said different, which doesn't necessarily mean better!
And how could anyone possibly ruin Pink Floyd :o

Apart from the Division Bell, I find them really dull.
-
I don`t like the early stuff, a bit too psychedelic for me but I like Echoes and most after that, Division Bell being their best album.

The only good thing about Pink Floyd was Dave Gilmour. As a former teacher, I couldn't be expected to approve of "We don't need no edukashun"!

Could have been, I know it was some pop cover, I just remember that they killed it.

While on the subject of covers, Mettalicas version of "Whiskey in the jar" is how that track should have been origionaly. Makes Lizzys version sound like a pub band

I agree there Keith, their cover of Blue Oyster Cult`s Astronomy is superb too as is Turn The Page (Bob Seger cover) :y

Been a fan of Disturbed for many years, since their 10,000 fists album got released...
Down With the Sickness and Land of Confusion (Genesis cover) are very good tracks...
This new song of theirs, albeit a coversong, is a very very good version....

I must admit that I prefer their normal stuff to this latest song, been a fan for a while especially while doing weights in the gym. Disturbed do metal. If you wish to do another genre then, like most bands a create a pseudo/spin-off/old-group-new-name band.
