Title: Removing pagpipes without draining coolant
Post by: terry paget on 02 May 2016, 19:13:09
Haynes just says 'manoeuvre it out  of position'. I have found the water hose from the transfer pipe to bottom of radiator is in the way, so remove it, after draining coolant. Is there a better way?

Takes some careful jiggling, but Haynes is, for once, correct :y

As Nick would say, why make a straightforward job ten times more complicated ;D

Sorry for the hijack but speaking of Haynes they are now doing or are about to launch Autodata style manuals for the trade!!

We live and learn. Thanks. Next time I will try harder. I appreciate that manuals must be concise. I wish Haynes had made it clear it was tricky. I find removing the wiper transmission tricky too, and the lower inlet manifold.

The lower support lug gets a bit hooked up on the coolant pipe but once you've shown it who's in charge it lets go quite easy.   ;)
As Al said, a bit of jiggling required.  :y

In the days when I changed the water pump every cam belt change it was no problem, now forum policy is only change pump on a V6 when dodgy, it's an extra chore.

I do find it easier to remove and refit the MAF and ram valve separately, but that is only 3 Jubilee clips. I spend less time doing that than trying to get it out and back in one piece.
