Title: Omega A diff types
Post by: Michelinov on 04 May 2016, 18:52:41
Hello to all. Great forum you have here, hope someone can help me. I drive an Omega A 2.6 automatic. Recently i have been thinking of finding a shorted diff for it, but i do not know what kind of diff to search for. Does anyone know if the smaller engined omegas (1.8 , 2.0) have shorter diffs ? If so will thet fit my prop ?

I have a limited slip diff that was fitted to a 3L Carlton (Omega A in your country), but I am not sure what ratio it is as the car was originally a 1.8L converted to 3L.  If it is of interest I will check the ratio and advise, however shipping to Bulgaria is likely to be very expensive.

I'm sure it will , finding a diff here will not be a big problem, i just don't know what to search for . Someone told me that the later 2.0 cars had a 3.9 ratio vs 3.7 for the earlier 2.0. Can someone confirm this ?

Unfortunately for you, this forum refers mainly to the Omega b, the Omega a was called a Carlton here.

Best bet is to try www.totalcarlton.com

Very useful and helpful indeed. I own a 2.6 Carlton (Omega A) but know nothing of the diff ratio's

Hope this helps.
