Top tip: Never go on any other forum but a motoring one and tell them you're having trouble with your tomtom. :)

Now I'll try and be helpful.  Looks like a client server glitch.  Like it says in the support page try u installing the software AND  drivers Nd try a fresh install with a fresh download off their website.

Tried that, but only using the Windows uninstall, as with my (lack of) knowledge I am reluctant to download 3rd party programmes without friends recommendations. :-\ :y

Sorry.  Autocorrect met my french dictionary.

I think thats the crux of the issue.  Something to do with this folder.  Uninstall the software, find the folder abd delete and look in the .appdata folder too (you may need to show hidden files and folders to see it) for another Tomtom folder, if you find one delete it too.  Reinstall .

What Guffer says as a first port of call.  If running non standard firewalls, like the tat that many AV providers install, temporarily disable that when doing the update as well.

A lot of people still use, standalone sat-navs. Due to the costs of updating inbuilt units, we all know that most phones have maps and sat-nav available.
