Post by: RobG on 11 May 2016, 09:56:56
Got somebody interested in Irmy side skirts. Anyone know what company may be best to use to ship to Toronto?

I was going to send a largish parcel to Lanzarote last year and ipost parcels were the cheapest.  :)

However in the end I decided to hand deliver, just to make sure it got there safely!  ;)  :y

Would say UPS, but would strongly recommend crating them first... they managed to snap a spoiler for me tother day :-\

That said, will they fit inside a plastic drain pipe?

That would add a lot of weight to your parcel though....  :-\

That's not a bad quote.

True Sir Tigger, but if it ensures it arrives in one piece, then worth it. Lesson learnt the hard way recently  :-[

Worth it for the ease and security of packing too; cut some pipe, slip in the covers then  screw and glue on some stopends.

Not worth it if it makes the whole exercise too expensive for the buyer.  :P  ;)

I guess cardboard tube wouldn't be much lighter though to be honest  :-\  and it'll still be cheaper than Tiggers personal courier service!  :D

You don't buy things on a different continent without some consideration to the potential cost of getting it ;)

I regularly use Interparcel for heavier / larger items. As with other similar companies, they have an account with all the couriers which keeps prices down. They compare services and costs and you select which you want. Collect from home or work, or you can drop off at a 'click and collect' point local to you which saves waiting for it to be collected.
I sold a crankshaft and pair of camshafts a for a classic car to a chap in the USA and booked it through Interparcel, which were in a crate and heavy. Delivered the following day to the buyer (although I must have been lucky with the transAtlantic flight....)!
Very good service every time, in my opinion.

A length of 150mm plastic drainpipe isn`t going to add a lot to the weight of the parcel, and if needs be you can get 215mm too, if you know anyone in the building trade they might be able to get you some foc from site  ;)
