Cork rocker gasket removal that's gone hard and welded
itself to the head :( What will soften it so it can be removed :-\
-
Not based on any personal experience, sadly, but surely left in some hot water for a period of hours/overnight would help / cant hurt?
-
Ah i should of explained that a bit better dbg , the gasket is still on the
engine around the cam .. the actual covers is off and clean .

Ahh booger. Slightly more faff immersing your whole car in hot water. :)
I'd imaging a carefully sharpened paint scraper, or similar (I'm sure you can actually buy flat blades specifically for scraping off things, but forget their names, BnQ will sell therm)
Maybe even something like a cheap n cheerful Rolson/other paint scraper, ie: made from cheap n nasty soft metal that won't mess up the mating surface of the cyl head...

Damn ! I thought this was going to be about the pros and cons of cork Vs screw caps on wine bottles ::)
Oh well . . .
-
shave it off with a honed wood-chisel.
You don't need a good quality chisel for this, and you definitely don't want to let anyone see you using a good one for it :o
This is what Poundland is for.

Tried a scraper but the cork is rock hard :( Had to fight it to get the
cover off . Will try the chisel cheers nick .

I knew that a sharpened scraper had a technical name.... 'chiz-ull' ;D :D ;D
