just been reading about the new Insignia. links below are to the msn news article from the motor show and a load of real pics. I think the car looks amazing and am genuinely excited about it as an omega replacement in the future!
Have been thinking a lot lately about how uninspiring most cars are and that very few would make me give up the mig. now there's a goal for the future! a nice nearly new insignia in a couple of years time!! :).... of course relying on me liking it as much in the flesh.... :-/
all in tho i'm excited. and that hasn't happened for a long time! :y
article on msn:

Looks good, I notice the launch is delayed until the end of the year......
-
where'd you see that? it says available now on msn... but if true, how typical. generate excitement then put the supply date back to generate even more.....
either that or they've got production probs! lol

Better that than rush out a poorly finished product.....

Hmmmm......looks nice in profile.
Bit of an ugly ba####d from the front if you ask me. I don't think it will date to well.

december this year

I really really like the look of this. In about three or four year's time the second hand value should make them an attractive option. Looks like the Omega will stay until then. :)

if after downgrading my car and getting financially stabe in my new house, might be tempted to a second hand one myself... however...
i doubt it'll depreciate like the omega, it looks like a major step forward from a vectra and at a competitve price too

Looks better in the MSN pictures than the first lot I saw .. they made it look just like a honda civic !!!
Still WRD though .. :(

It is not a replacement for the Omega more of a replacement for the Vectra and is it not front wheel drive ::)
-
Growing on me :)

I'm not keen. Looks like any other mass produced car. Looks like a hyundai from the rear. :(

Actually, I think you're right. I might go for one of those exclusive, coach built Astras instead. ;D ;D ;D

Should have known better than to post a serious comment.
Astra was described on top gear last week as "a handsome car"

They also said they loved the Insignia. :)
Maybe I'll wait for the facelift version anyway. :)

Due to be available in 2.8 twin scroll turbo 4x4.....now that I WOULD consider!

IMHO Opel/Vauxhall did themselves no favours when they dropped the Omega format. It was the only car that could touch BMW/Mercedes in terms of driveability. I now have a Vectra 1.9CDTi auto Elite for my sins and it is simply crap in every possible way.
This Insignia needs to be really good to get anywhere near what the Omega is or was; the 4x4 may be the only hope.
My opinion on real driver's cars; German RWD cars are the best (Omega V6/BMWs/Mercs) - I don't like to drive FWD Audis, though they are nicely built.

after omega i go for 1999 or 8

but i get a lot more than insignia or FWD 2.8 audi a8
insignia dosent feel driver car . maybe look better with irmsher body kit. i just see pasat :-X
