Just a tip for everyone, If you don't have pliers with a long handle, forget about trying to change this thing in a 2.5 v6.
After a 30 min of trying to reach this thing i had two choises: Get it fixed by a mechanic or cutting a piece of the metal frame around so you can actually grasp this thing.
I chose the first option. >:(

It's still fiddly, but if you remove the plastic scuttle panel, you ought to be able to do the whole job in 30minutes. Having the cable tool to undo the spring clips is a big help. Replacing them with Jubilee clips makes reassembly much easier.

I have this valve in my hand right now. Should i wrap that brittle looking seam with tape to further longer it's lifespan?
Is there any way to strenghten this defect? Seam like that is prone to leaking. Why can't it be metal...

It's the diaphragm that splits, a mixture of heat, constant vacuum and dirty coolant.
You could seal the small hole since the small amount air can compress.
I just bought a German replacement for 8 quid

They're really not too difficult to change. I changed the last one I did in a field ..... it had failed while away on holiday down south somewhere. It didn't leak too bad if the a/c was off, so ordered one from the nearest dealer, collected it & changed it .... job jobbed :y :y
The plastic scuttle under the screen has to be removed to give enough access

Bah... plenum is only four bolts, and doesn't fill the wiring up with water when you put it back ::)
