How difficult is it to change the front crankshaft seal???
-
The hardest, bit is removing, the Camelot pulley nut, then getting it off without breaking the key.

I've found that too ::) ::) ;)

I think that if I was doing that job I would budget for a new bolt and pulley.

Changing it is easy; two self tapping screws to pull the old one out and some gentle tapping to get the new one in.
Undoing the bolt requires some way of holding the crank still against about 500Nm of torque, and a basic puller to remove the pulley. Both of these are doable with a length of bar with some holes drilled and tapped in it. I did draw up what I used.
A new pulley is pointless, but some loctite on the bolt is probably sensible.

If the job goes smoothly -yes. but if the pulley comes off in pieces...........
What did you bolt the length of bar to?

Serek has a super tool for holding,the pulley still, then big knuckle bar to hang on to undo the bolt.

What did you bolt the length of bar to?
It bolts to two of the crank pulley bolts, and is then rotated tight against the water pump. My 750mm long breaker bar was like a bow before the bolt loosened.
I then bolted the bar across the centre of the pulley with the crank bolt loosely in place. If you gradually tighten the pulley bolts it gently draws off the pulley. Typing that sentence took longer than removing the pulley. The pulley is just a tight fit on the cranknose which means it isn't difficult to remove as long as you pull it straight off.

its about 3.5-4 hour work, with out right tools can be day or 2
crank seal its about £5
