There's a bloke about quarter mile from me who sells a few "cheap'n'cheerful cars from his front yard, usually older Corsas and the like.Just at present he has a Triumph Spitfire MkIV for sale. The bits of paper he's got taped to inside of windscreen point out that it's a 45yr old car, probably to explain away the tatty hood and the fact it sorely needs a respray. Also he claims it's a very rare car, which I suppose it could very well be as he also states the body work was designed by Ferrari :o :o and for price he's just put £POA ::)

well it was design by an Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti :y

Gio was a busy man for several big name marques.
I really liked the Fury which used the 2 litre straight six, 2.5 or 3.0 V8 may have been an option if it had gone into production.
Had a few Trumpets over the years which gave good service.

From what I recall, even when they were relatively new, they were real rustbuckets. BUT, if the price was right it would certainly be a classic

My first car was a 1972 Triumph 1500 with FWD.
........a Dolomite Sprint really. :y
That's what I told the girlies anyway. ;)

How much, Mr Baza?

Well Dr.opti last I saw he'd put POA for a price.I haven't enquired as I've never been much for bugs in teeth motoring, saloons are more my "thing",I even took the engine out of a Monza and put it in a Senator[changing it from a 2.5 to a 3L]and scrapped rest of Monza because I preferred the saloon.Whether the guy truly believes that it was styled by Ferarri or has just got his Italians mixed up I don't know.Must say though that it makes a refreshing change to see a Spitfire as opposed to the ubiquitous MGB!

Agreed! I always preferred the look of the spit. I came within a couple of hrs of buying a GT6 as my first car. Also, the clamshell bonnet must make them a doddle to work on :).

Bought one of these as a main dealer trade in for £200 in '83
Found a couple of them in the local scrappy that had lots of new bits which got a new lease of life in our little Trumpet.
Changed the clutch on it in my dinner break, really difficult job ;D ;D
Even had coil overs if memory serves, very reliable little car, tad noisy / rattly
