Eating ice-creams on the beach one minute, dirty great cloud comes over pi88es down for a few minutes then the sun comes out, steam coming from the roads, then everyone back into the sea and eating ice-creams ;D ;D ;D

Worth it though :y

The localised summer storms - just get up and drive to other coast, it'll be sunny there ;D

If you're coming to Cornwall this year, you musn't miss the opportunity to visit Porth Emmet (http://www.porthemmet.com/).  :y

Edit:

If anyone has visited Porth Emmet, let us know what you thought of it.  :)

Talking the Talk

You'll get a lot more out of a visit to Cornwall if you use some of the local slang:

"Giss on" = "That's great", use this if someone tells you something useful.
"Wisht" = "Handsome" or "beautiful" regarding a person.
"Me luvver" or "me 'ansom" is often added onto phrases to express physical attraction.

Just remember that everyone in Cornwall is very friendly and are often thrilled to talk to tourists. Make an effort to join in with whatever the locals are doing, you'll have much more fun and they will really appreciate it.

got a lot of family in cornwall, lovely place. don't get down there as often as i'd like to... in fact i seem to be moving further and further away from the place! hehe.

family moved down there in the early 80s, the place has changed a lot since then, especially with the advent of cheap flights into newquay airport and back. the economy is a peculiar one in cornwall, properties snapped up by those who don't live there, artificially pushing the prices up so that the locals can't get their hands on the houses they once eyed up.

north coast of cornwall is where the rellies are based, just up from st agnes, porthtowan, mount hawke, chapel porth etc... anyone familiar with this area?

Also, substitue "buddy" for "mate" with friendly male strangers. I.e. "Cheers buddy" when your change is returned. ("Cheers love" is not taken as patronising for similar address to a female).

Also, a pasty from any locally owned general shop is vastly superior to anything you might buy in a Shell garage...

Have a good one  :) :) :)
