Title: Head gasket woes....
Post by: minifreek on 15 June 2016, 19:59:22
OK folks, HG went tonight on way home from collecting my lad from school... bugger...

Only replaced the radiator last week too coz that decided to let go, possibly related at a guess...

Anyhoo....

Anybody have any links as to where I can get a HG kit from, quickly....

Obviously will need the stretch bolts too, unsure about changing the cambelt and waterpump too as they was only changed about 8 months ago.....

Yep, bought a complete 3.0l headgasket set for £12.50. But this was 2.5 years ago, and they only had one set.

Which doesn't help you very much.

It is  a readily available standard part, as are the headbolts; you're looking at about £100 for both.

I wouldn't worry about replacing the belt or pump

LOL no doesn't help much at the moment...

I thought it was going a couple of weeks ago, so ordered a radiator and HG set, but the seller refunded me and told me the set was damaged so wasn't willing to sell it...

Iv not looked on Ebay yet or contacted AutoVaux which I will be doing tomorrow....

Sets in both links have crush-type exhaust manifold gaskets.
IMHO, steel multi-layer ones are much better for this application.

It won't matter as he's changing to the later manifolds, and won't be able to use them
