Title: Starting trouble
Post by: horsecow on 19 June 2016, 12:03:42
Okay as some if you know I bought a 3.2 elite before Xmas that had done the aux belt in and was a none runner. It had slipped the timing a little as well but not much and no serious damage done. Anyway I've now got all the issues u could see fixed, timing is now set, new timing belt kit fitted, new aux belt and tensioner, new spark plugs and coil packs and everything back as it should. On turning the key however the engine is turning over as it should but it is not catching/starting. There are no fault codes coming up at all and I'm now struggling to find the problem. All help/advice much appreciated

Have you plugged all the sensors in correctly?

Then it's back to basics... Fuel? Spark?

Agreed. And if you cant find anything else, suspect crank sensor.

Tried crank sensor from the 2.6 that I know is good and made no difference, still doing same. Fuel is def getting through haven't tried the spark yet but with new plugs and coil packs I'm thinking that should be okay. The key that I have for the car is old and sticks a bit and the buttons are more or less disappeared. Would it be possible that the key could be the problem? Cant think what else it can be so maybe I'm clutching at straws here. How much is a new key gonna rattle me??
