Title: Alternator, genuine part or any?
Post by: amazonian on 22 June 2016, 13:04:36
I may need an alternator, if I do must I have a vauxhall one or no?

Just got a price for vauxhall one £150 + vat + £61 surcharge*(refundable on the old one)

Cheers

If you`re not able to diagnose and fix it yourself then I`d look at a local auto electrician for an exchange unit, the last one I got was around £50 for an exchange unit.

Local motor factors might be cheaper, but no guarantee of brand...

Parts are readily available for repairing it as well at a fraction of the cost if that proves to be the problem ;)

That said, for a new alternator, £180 isn't unreasonable...

I bought an unbranded 'remanufactured' alternator from ebay a couple of years ago for £69.95 with 12 months warranty.  :y

Depends what the amp rating of yours is.  Here's a 70 amp (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALTERNATOR-VAUXHALL-ASTRA-F-CALIBRA-CORSA-B-FRONTERA-TIGRA-VECTRA-70A-QA2202-/141951954742?fits=Car+Make%3AVauxhall%7CModel%3AOmega%7CCars+Year%3A2000%7CPlat_Gen%3AB%7CCars+Type%3A2.2+16V&hash=item210cfeef36:g:esYAAMXQBlJR~5wQ) one for £38.40! Says it fits a 2.2.  ???  :)

Shop around!  :y
