Title: New cabinet proposal
Post by: terry paget on 25 June 2016, 15:47:33
PM - Boris Johnson
Chancellor of the Exchequer - Michael Gove
Home Secretary: Teresa May - admittedly an inner, but did not spout rubbish and currently in post
Foreign Secretary: Gisella Stewart - brave exiteer, German and German speaking, just the person to get on with Angela Merkel and negotiate the best leaving terms. I know she's Labour, but I reckon she would do it, and do it well.

Labour. :)

What happens if a 'remain' candidate becomes the new Tory leader?.......or will that not be allowed?

In which case, Callmedave may as well stay put until the next election ::)

My thoughts entirely.

Looks like 'Boris the Bloodless' it is then.

I just hope that Osborne ends up flipping burgers somewhere unpleasant. I have at least some minimal respect for most politicians, but not him. But of course, the system being what it is he will end up still being an MP and with some lucrative consultancies and non-exec directorships.

He is a vile coward. He has completely disappeared since the result was announced. His days are definitely numbered though . He didn't have much credibility last wee, but he has less than none now.
Slightly off topic, but I expect Carswell to be either expelled from UKIP soon, or to leave and be welcomed back into the Tory fold by PM Johnson.

I've no doubt that he's clever. And his instincts to see which way the wind is blowing are impeccable. But he's made several careers relying on his ability to bluster his way out of consequences when he's caught making the professional short cuts that he's addicted to. His use to the Conservative party has been as a loose cannon to publicly stir up trouble. These are attributes that makes him an extremely poor choice as a leader

Two are women.

Too big a job for a mere girlie in my humble opinion.

powell, Bliars chief of staff was on newsnight friday saying there must be a general election and one party could say stuff the result we're staying in, and if they win = referendum in the bin.

I really don't know what will happen next, or when.

It's all gone tit's up.

Do we actually have a functioning government at the moment?

Where is George Osborne?

Referendum is just an opinion poll... There is no obligation on government to actually follow it, although ignoring opinion would be very, very dangerous for any government!  ;)

Legally/ technically that may be true, but the elected Govt. decided to have this vote and told the country, when it was announced, that they would abide by the result. The only possible way out of that would be for the whole Govt to resign, not stand for re election and allow Corbyn to become PM and choose to ignore the result.
It aint going to happen.

What are the odds of Hilary Benn becoming the next Labour leader?

Also, could a Leave coalition be a viable alternative to an underpowered Conservative government?  Could this happen without an election?
