Christ...what is wrong with the weather,mid summer's day gone and now we're on the slippery slope back to another dark damp,cold winter.I'm having a bit of a moan,only because that the small amount of summer activities planned so far have gone 100% belly up.Examples..grandaughter's birthday bbq ...total wash out,PVS..rained on and off most of the day,Glastonbury as usual a mud bath and Reading can be as well,Wimbledon coming up, weather predicted as unsettled with possible periods of heavy rain and to top it all I got a call at 10 pm last night from Dave Waddington from the ABS to say that the Manningtree car show had been cancelled due to the site being waterlogged. >:(>:(Now this coming Thursday I'm doing a prom night with the R8 and it looks like it's going to rain on that as well, also I'm thinking back to Billing a couple or so years ago when it had some flooding problems and that event is not too far away,jury's out on that one,but the way the weather pattern seems to be set,it could be affected again! Think I'll go and live in a sunny European country....bugger! I can't, I knew I shouldn't have voted out ;D

Well, it is an El Nino event this year and that usually impacts on our weather patterns. Still pishes you off though don,t it!

The problem is that the British winter is just long enough for us to forget what the British summer is like. ;)

Stuck 20 quid's worth of gas in the car yesterday and set off on a magical mystery tour towards the dales complete with a few tinnies, a couple of butty boxes and a picnic blanket :y
Ended up driving through Knaresborough because we couldn't find a piggin parking spot so carried on upto Pateley Bridge.
Found a empty ish carpark in the middle of nowhere and parked up.
Our lass nipped into the forest to shake the lettuce while I wobbled down a track to find a suitable spot to crash out with the butty boxes :y
Then is happened ::)
Never mind rain, I was looking for bits or wood and string so I could make a ark :o :o
For a good 20 minutes, the heavens opened up and been conscious of the thunder and lightning I didn't know which way to run :-[
Got back to the car to find the missus stood there looking like she had just got out of the shower fully clothed and not very politely asking me why I locked the car up ::)
I did ask her if she had brought a hair dryer which she politely told me were it would be plugged in if she had one :-X :'(
Well once it stopped, the picnic was held with the dog tied to a fence so he could talk the sheep and cows and us sat on the back of the estate trying in vain to dry out a little in the sun which conveniently had decided to make appearance ;)
Later after we had been in laugh or cry mode for a hour or so, we went for a walk into the village and it all started again but at least this time, we found a bus shelter to hide in ;D
A quiz question for you ............... How many elderly Yorkshire folk, disability scooters, rambler / picnic type people and German shepherds can you fit in a 10ft x 10ft bus shelter ?
A lot more then it was designed for i'll tell yeh ;D ;D
When it stopped, I though opps this for a game of solders and off we drove back east towards the sun and nice chip shop / pub in Stamford Bridge that I know of for tea :y
Fish and chips went down rather well so off across the road for a pint of Sam Smiths Irish stout in the beer garden :y Well you guessed is, the heavens opened up again and since the wet dog was not welcome for some reason inside the pub, we paddled back to the car and home ;D
God, I do love a English Summer day out ::) ;D ;D

Agreed, it's just really disappointing..Because...when the sun shines and the weather settles for a bit, This country is one of the best places to be....but the rest of the time,it's a bit grim. ::)
