Tuesday, 9pm, BBC 4. No state secrets revealed, I'm sure, but should be interesting nevertheless.

I still laugh at the memory of the regular appearance on Station Routine Orders, back in the early '60's, of a request for volunteers to spend a week at Porton Down to " help research into the common cold". Even in my callow youth I was not that gullible, even with the bribe of an extra shilling a day or some such, plus -ooh goody - a 48 hour pass. :y

It's very recent history, and shocking the way people were used as guinea pigs.

Same as servicemen used during atom bomb tests >:(

;D ;D Still appeared every few weeks during the 80's when I was doing my bit ;D ;D
Remembered one beer call out in sausage land when one of the jockys invited a Medical Officer (who hade been on a jolly to Deci with us) for a drink with the troops forgetting that our new boss had implemented a No Rank at beer call rule :y :y
Needless to say, this subject came up and said M.O after a few beers thought he'd defend Porton Down's right to poison the troops under the guise of testing a new flue vaccine ::) ::)
Oh how we laughed .............. :-X :D :D
