Title: Autobox selector jammed solid.
Post by: ted_one on 07 July 2016, 21:18:17
As  above, parked up at Halfrauds tonight, came out and started the car and the selector was jammed solid, also the car with spanner through it icon was illuminated. Took around 15 minutes or so of starting up and switching off,and then it finally cleared.Got home put the code reader on it...nothing! Auto selector is now jammed again...so if any one has any ideas on this one I would greatly appreciate your views. TIA :y

Did you try lifting the gearlever surround and pressing the release lever?

I think the release solenoid and the brake light switch are the top suspects but am puzzled by the warning light :-\

I wonder if the fuse that feeds the release solenoid is shared in some way with the info display? and maybe that fuse is giving an intermittent connection?

Someone who knows their wiring diagrams should be along soon.....

Fuse F2 15A is feeding the brakelight switch and also the selector release solenoid and the key release ignition solenoid.

this happened to my dad's estate years ago and it was the solenoid which at the time was expensive and looked a pig to change so I used a small dia piece of plastic pipe to hold up the bit that the solenoid pops up and never happened again.
