I need an estate for a bit and have spotted one of these that looks good and at a reasonable price. :)
I know there's a couple of Saabo's here, so any info would be appreciated! :y
Do these have the same engine as the Omega 2.2 Dti? :-\
TIA! :y
-
Yep same as Veccy C and Omega 2.2dti :y
Btw 9-5s are great cars, very comfy, good to drive and the "sport" seats are some of the best i've tried.
Greetings from the SAAB country :D

Wow, a Swede who drives a French car! :o That's frowned upon here, but I always imagined you'd get burnt at the stake for that in Scandinavia! :D ;D
I've always fancied a Saab and may just get one now before they get too old. :y
Tack! ;)

Always quite fancied a Saab, although never owned one,but then I'm thinking back to the 95/6's :D

I believe you have to be a doctor or an architect to drive a Saab though. Its the law. :)

I am SAAB guy too, I also like Rovers and Opel/Vauxhalls (I've had three 600's)
One of my dream cars is the Senny B 24v with the digital dash.
I would also like to have an Omega some day.. and LS1 V8 swap it :y
My friend has a black FL Desmond with full irmscher kit 8)
He also has a manta 400 replica and a calib turbo...
Some known weak spots on the 9-5 are:
Bushings in the rear end, especially lower outer suspension arm bushings.
Ac panel pixel fault, can be fixed
Rust on rear wheelarches, bit like on omegas but not as bad. Probably less of a thing in the uk.
Rear engine mount (at least on 4cyl petrols)
Haven't heard much about the 2.2 derv, they aren't very common here since tax for older diesels is silly here about £700 a year for a 2.2TiD auto vs £300 for a 2.0t auto.
Avoid the 3.0 V6 diesel though.

....and you also have to wear thin metal-rimmed spectacles. :)

I looked into getting a Saab before opting for the Omega, reason being that after doing a little research I believe that body and trim parts are getting a little hard to come by and rather expensive due to Saab no longer being in business. Engine and transmission no problem as the later ones use Vauxhall parts.
-
The old SAAB parts division, now called Orio still makes and stocks a lot of stuff for them. So you can still get most things, over here it is not crazy expensive at least. For example my brother paid ca: £60 for the seat trim panel where the adjustment buttons are.
Also there is a big following for them here, which means there will a good parts supply in the future.
And I'm sure that there are SAAB specialists, forums and clubs in the UK too.
