Looking for opinions - considering a cheeky last minute snipe if it's an easy fix.. ;D

Reserve not met though...
I'd have it if I could afford it ;D
-
without knowing the trouble codes it could be anything.
However the seller does seem to be pretty up front so i would say that the diagnosis is not a million miles away from the reality, shame as i have just sold my DBW plenium as well :-/
-
I am actually wondering if it's a fault with the DBW unit...
-
They plugged the machine in and they couldn't be more helpful than that? I suppose it could be the throttle body, but could be bad connection. They should have at least tried to run TB adaptation.
-
may have only been a cheapo reader theo...
-
I don't think RAC/AA have real tech 2's. When mine died a year ago, it would start but not rev much, max speed about 15mph. Not having access to a Tech 2, I had to get it diagonosed by Evans Halshaw who said it was the ECU and wanted £650. (Got a ECU/Keyreader from a scrappy for £45). However there still is a suspicion that it was just the keyreader not liking the key chip, and triggering some sort of anti theft routine.
Happy sniping !

Depending on what the reserve is it's definitely worth a snipe !!!!!
You're not allowed to battenburg it James !!!! ;)
-
It's either the ECM, the TB, the throttle pedal, or the wiring - with an outside chance of the ABS computer or clocks. I know that doesn't sound helpful, but if you have access to a Tech2 and spare TB/pedal then you can get pretty far with the diagnosis in 30 minutes or less.
-
Hope you get yourself a bargain buddy .... will be watching out of interest :y
-
It didn't sell - email sent to seller to talk realistic cash prices ;)
-
Good luck. :y
I reckon it could be back on the road without too much bother.

if it was a 2.2 i would have said cam sensor.
Mine did the same thing (minus TC light)
Started, but idle was tad high, press pedal nothing.
-
Is it worth £500?
I think he's waiting on me to say yes or no before he sells it so I need to be quick.! Shall I bite his hand off?

has he given you that price or is that your offer?
-
That's his rock bottom...
-
I could see you, the family & dogs in that after LPGing it ;D
Reckon you could have that fixed in a day, theres enough spare parts around here.
-
nah not worth £500 i bought an mv6 with a faulty crank sensor for £200 and it had a full tank of fuel full leather etc
that cars ex old bill so its got nothing! and will keep breaking down as its nackered by them driving it stupidly!
i had an ex old bill v6 vectra that was constantly costing me £££ so i scrapped it ive got another v6 vectra same age but not old bill and it never goes wrong!
-
£500 too much for a 2002 02 plate 3.2 with long MOT? Really?!

Sounds about right ;) ;) I may as well get the blame, I do for everything else ;D
-
How much will it cost to tax it now?
-
I'd be tempted by this if you aren't James... Just a bit far away from me otherwise I'd go for it!!
At the end of the day you could strip it and make the £500 back with very little effort!! :y :y :y

I suspect its £185 for 12 months as the retrospective bit is only coming in next year. Worth confirming though.
-
Its worth it - take it, Tax is high next year, but James when was the last time you kept a car 12 months.
And if you do it means its worth it and you would be happy to tax it.
At least go check it out, i`d take it.

What do you think is up with it Mark?
-
Its going to be a basic sensor fault I would expect. Cant see it being throttle body or pedal as they are twin resistor setups so flag codes but still operate although I guess the motor could have died but, that would be a first and if so why does it idle ok?.
I have a suspicion that these might run with a faulty crank sensor but, give a similar symptom.
Either way, it does not at first glance sudgest anything major.
