Title: A Holiday suggestion . .
Post by: Mister Rog on 04 August 2016, 11:05:17

I mean, who would go to Afghanistan as a tourist ?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-36974648

I quite like travel, but quite frequently a story comes along about maybe a young backpacker eaten by canibals in the jungle somewhere, or raped and murdered on an exotic beach, or just gone missing somewhere remote, or whatever. It strikes me that there are people with little sense of personal safety when it come to choosing where to go to and how. They go somewhere as it would be a big adventure and a "cool" place to go. And then there will be the friends and relatives tearfully saying what lovely people he/she/they were. Maybe, but they were also stupid.

Right, where's my armchair and Horlicks . . . .

I believe North Korea is relatively unspoilt. :)

I'll be willing to bet that there probably are people who actually would go there, just because it would be "unusual"

I've been in Wales for the last two weeks Rog and I'd just like to say that I've never seen so many flags. I know the Welsh are very patriotic as I work with a Welshman but they are everywhere.
What a patriotic lot you are.  :y

The language and name pronunciation are still a mystery to me though.  ::) ;D

I lived in London for 40 years, and I don't speak Welsh. Round here speaking Welsh is almost essential for any job that involves contact with the public. It is a strange language with very flexible grammatical "rules". AND referring to the original topic, only the bravest venture here for a holiday. Much better to go to Afghanistan or North Korea  :y

the word stoopid keeps coming to mind.,not only have they put there own lives at risk, it's those who will end up going to fetch them, who are at risk.

What part of it?

I have a house in Rushenden that My father and I use to build motorbikes in and store car parts. Wouldn't want to live there though

Ok, I know this is not some exotic adventurous thing, but why is a 17 year old trying to get a taxi alone in Tenerife in the small hours of the morning ? I just would not advise that anywhere, even anywhere in the uk. I know that it should be possible to do this, but the fact is that it isn't. Unfortunately one has to assume that pervs are everywhere.

If the taxis there are anything like the ones on Gran Canaria, then there's no way on this planet you could confuse them, drunk and teenage or not...

Horrific thing to happen though :'(
