Post by: raywilb on 09 August 2016, 08:25:01
whats the best way to remove sludge from an engine after a head gasket failure. I have 5ltrs  of old oil which I took out so have been toying with the idea of putting it back in & running till hot , empty then add new with new filter.  :-\

If you're talking about mayo from water contamination, I'd refill with cheap oil after doing the job, then change it after 1000 miles or so. During this time make sure the breathers don't get clogged as most of the moisture will escape through the breathers as soon as it warms up.

Yeah, I'd rather dump a can of Asda's finest motor oil in than re-use old oil, personally.

your advice noted will buy some cheap stuff & change after its done a1000mls, as regards my comment about old oil I intended only letting the oil get hot & dumping it after a short journey.  :y
