Title: Energy Prices
Post by: HolyCount on 25 July 2008, 22:09:06
Had a phone call this afternoon from British Gas. I changed supplier about a year ago and they wanted to know why --- "because the new lot are cheaper" says I.

Well, the British Gas guy was cock-a-hoop .... he assures me that they are the cheapest and can save me money.  I had nothing much to do for a few minutes so thought I would humour him.

We work through our figures -- my payments, payment method and usage --- then he goes all quiet on me --- unusual for a salesman....

Turns out British Gas was £124 a year more expensive!!!!!

Tw*t

I can never understand why the main suppliers are not the cheapest.

From the savings you just quoted, me thinks I need to do a rethink. :-/

Try an online comparison site , eg: http://www.uswitch.com/.

Just changed to Scottish Power on a 12 month fixed price deal.

It will be a hell of a long cable from Scotland to here but, as long as it's cheaper, who cares??  :) ;D

But if you enter your annual usage for both fuels it compares based on the annual cost taking all this into account - so you don't have to worry about all the gimmicks and small print.

I heard on the radio tonight.....that if you can get a fixed deal for a year.......even if its more expensive by 5% at the moment then do it.....reporter said you'd be laughing at the savings you'd be making.

I noticed that uswitch kept crashin last night...

Yup - capped/fixed rates one about £70/year more than mine at the moment, but might change before they drop the deal.  I think the best you can get was till end of 2010?

Mine's fixed till end of this year (BG Fix'n'Fall), but looking very carefully...
