Title: back on the road
Post by: raywilb on 13 August 2016, 18:08:25
I finished the 2.2 dt 2 days ago. took it for a spin & all seemed ok. overnight it lost its coolant from the header tank. I checked the oils dipstick & sure enough water was in the sump. I,m glad I never put new oil in 5ltrs of old stuff that I intended to run whilst it got hot & empty, as an attempt to get rid of the mayo through a faulty oil cooler. just my luck the oil cooler I acquired turned out to be faulty. I have bypassed the oil cooler now & all now seems ok. Is it safe to drive long distances at motorway speeds without an oil cooler.  :-\

I think you knw the answer to that already: Vx would not have wasted money on unnecessary components and at the least convenient part of your motorway journey you will discover, on a wet and inhospitable day (in the dark, too) just why it was included as standard..... :(
