Got mine a while ago genuine GM, with the transfer pipe etc... anyone fancy it, there's a 'old stock clearance' one on the heebay... I beleive you can simply pop your old 'stat out of the housing and insert the new one. :)

You believe wrong...
The casings and stat details vary from manufacturer to manufacturer... you might get lucky, but then you might not :-\
Caveat emptor ;)

If you didn't damage the housing getting it out of the Vee and off the transfer tube, or it wasn't badly corroded to start with. Considering that you can buy the whole thing for a tenner, or the OE one for £17 It's not enough of a saving for me. No, I don't insist on spending extra for a Vauxhall box to throw away, or have any problems adjusting the fit with different bolts/washers.
