my son has just purchased a Vauxhall zafira ( today ) the dealer has told him in 12mths if he takes it back to them they will do a full service for £99. as yet I have no info on the vans specs , but on the presumption he does 12k a year is a yearly oil change etc is once a year not enough

If it has a petrol engine, then a 12k/12month oil change is nothing to worry about. If it's a used diesel, and/or a car he intends to own for several years then at least halving that oil change interval would be a very good idea. This will help to reduce some of the expensive issues with modern diesels.

No doubt, a "Full Service" in this case being an oil, and possible oil filter, change....

It would have spontaneously combusted by then so nothing to worry about!
