Title: seat problem
Post by: pauls on 24 August 2016, 14:16:20
I have just replaced my elite drivers seat with a mv6 seat. I now have a couple of problems. Help needed please.

1. On replacing the seat i found that i now have a spare yellow wire. I plugged in the yellow wire with the yellow plug. I now have a yellow wire with a grey plug spare.(coming from car loom)

2. My airbag light has come on. Keys no where near car until wires connected.

3. I also have a big grey plug coming from the loom that wont plug into anything on the seat.

4. Took the car for a quick spin it feals like the heated seats are on. On turned on by dashboard. Is they a fuse i can pull.

5. Seat to high i know you can use a socket but cant remember i think 13mm but my halfords one wont go up the hole

Really beyond me, I've only ever swapped like-for-like, but I have a slightly sickly feeling you need a Tech2 to get that airbag light turned off...  :-\

Both seats have airbags, and they're definitely connected? If that's the case, there's really no reason the car 'knows' there's a different seat in there  ???

Just had a look on here and it looks like i cant pull a fuse for heated seats as fuse covers other things. Could i just unplug the heater side from the seat.

Do you still have the old seats? Need to see what's what... issue/solution should then present itself :-\

Biggest problem I have is that I only have two free days in the next fortnight :'(

If it's non Elite seats, then height does tend to stick. Rocking the switch usually does the trick

I plugged in the yellow wire with the yellow plug.

My airbag light has come on.

Reason being is that your passenger seat must have had a CSS (child seat sensor)

It does if the seats are not "like for like" regarding the fitment of a CSS in the passenger seat ;)

Just to say only changed the drivers seat. Not to worried about airbag. My main concern is the heated seat coming on without me touching the dash control

I would be. With that light on, the entire SRS system is disabled

Youve either unpluged one of the SRS Seat plugs with the battery still connected or refer to RobG post above.

Some say not having the ing. on should be fine.  :-\

My point of view is be on the safe side, diss battery, wait 5 mins whilst drinking the tea, then start on anything related to the SRS system, making sure all plugs and connections are back in place before connecting battery again / switching on Ing.  :y

Either way sounds like your in for a Tech 2 chat now for a reset.
