Post by: Figureman52 on 25 August 2016, 16:08:06
Does anyone have the tool referred to in the guide?

Thanks

They can normally be persuaded to come out with readily available prying tools. If that fails, some butchery with an angle grinder is sufficient.

Unless the bloke next door has the tool, acquiring one probably isn't worth the effort. I felt the same about making one, as I changed both bushes with the car on axle stands, in the street, using a claw hammer and pry bar in about an hour.

Do one side at a time!

There is a guide knocking around that involves sticking a big socket between the bush/subframe and the bodyshell, lower the car down, and the weight of the car pushes the bush out, isn't there? It's along those lines, anyway  :)

Pretty much... It pushes the central core out, assuming it didn't fall out when the plate is unbolted... Leaving the outer shell space to be knocked inwards with a club hammer/cold chisel combo. This too then simply falls out 8)

Are we talking about the donut bushes?  Are they not the same or similar to those fitted to earlier Senators (and even earlier Monza's)?

Very similar Craig, the Omega donuts have two voids in them whereas the Senator/Carlton ones didn`t so it`s important to fit them in the right orientation  :y

Also the central core sits about 20mm lower than the outer casin on the Omega bush where the Senator/Carlton types are flush on the bottom.
