around my way im pretty shrewed about the camera locations being fixed or mobile, but recently they have been placing them in different laybys and junctions.
must be skint at the moment cos the one outside the local school was there during the break and its definetly not an accident area, cannot ever remember an incident happenning down the whole length of the road?
lets hope our council does a "swindon"............... >:(

I thought there had to be a history of incidents before they could site a speed camera, be it static or mobile. Of course there are now all sorts of other cameras being used for other purposes that I guess are not covered by speed camera legislation --- just coincidental that they collect speed data at the same time ::)

I understand Swindon council are getting rid of all it's speed cameras as all the money from them is going straight to Mr darling and not being used for road safety. :-* :-*

Correct ....Well the static ones anyway :y
However it seems the mobile 'safety' vans are still operating at the moment plus the police ones ........so does the money generated from these...all disapear to the government too or do the local councils still get a % :-/
So be warned if you reckon you can speed through Swindon 'untouched' at the moment the mobile ones are still operating ;)

I was under the impression that if they were painted yellow as most are, then the local force could keep the proceeds.. :-/
