Hi not been on a while but was wondering if anyone could help me I have serviced my omega 3.2 four times now and had 3 different oils from the motor factors and Vauxhall specify a different one all together. It runs on Lpg from brand new and has done 150k if that makes a difference as I don't really want oil all over the road if it had to be fully synthetic but if it has to be it had to be

GM 10w-40. :y

Yep, GM 10w-40 all the way. :y
-
GM list two grades for a V6; 5w-30synthetic and 10w-40 semi-synthetic. It's hard enough keeping oil in these engines at the best of times, so paying more for a thinner oil is daft.
As for which brand of 10w-40, if you're susceptible to marketing you will already 'know' which one to buy. Otherwise, buy whatever has the best combination of cost and convenience for you. Your engine doesn't care.

Thanks for the replies I'll use the 10-40 as that's what was in it last cheers

I use GM 10W 40
Seems to be a few using ECP discounted oil these days also :-\

I'm one of the ecp oil user's 5w30, fully sympathetic.

I'll be using ECP's oil when my current 20 ltr tub of GM runs out as my local dealer no longer has a Parts Dept and I knew the Parts Guy there who gave me good deals on oil. ::) :(
Alternatively, Costco sell 20 ltr tubs of oil for about £40ish. Chevron I think. :-\

GM fluids available from the larger GM groups on ebay readily enough, not necessarily TC prices, but certainly give the 'sales' a run for their money :y

I've not used anything else for years. I'll have to pay for my next lot though.
Acquire the correct grade and the name on the container, that you chucked in the bin at the transfer station, is irrelevant.

5w 40 for ages, popped in vx bought a couple of gm filters , 20ltrs of 10w 40 was too cheap to turn down.

Not tried the Chevron, but sometimes Costco only sell Castrol Magnatec in 20l drums. We know Castrol isn't really suitable in our V6's due to being more susceptible to mixing with the moisture for some reason.
I think my last 20l from the dealer came out about £25.

Your dealer obviously likes you! :-*
Last couple of times I've paid about £36 for 20ltrs, but once I went in and saw another bloke who claimed they didn't sell 20ltr tubs and never had, and then tried to sell me 5ltrs for about £20! ::) ;D Another time, yet another bloke claimed they didn't have any GM 10w40 in group stock... anywhere! And as they had to order it by the pallet they wouldn't be getting any in either! :o
So I think it depends on who's behind the Parts Counter at the time and whether his Mrs was nice to him that morning or not! :D
