Title: Very low mileage 2.5 CD saloon
Post by: STEMO on 27 September 2016, 12:43:37
Looks tidy. Only 61000 miles and, according to the mot checks, had 40000 on it in 2006. Since then it's done 2-3000 miles per annum. Thought someone might be interested:

Ad says manual but it's obviously auto. Leather too.

I did notice that there are no close ups of the rear wheel arches. No wear on the climate buttons, very unusual.

But if I were to time travel 11 months into the future it would only have one month left.
I wouldn't buy a car with such a short MOT. :)

I spoke with the garage, who'd taken it in PX for an MX5, about it last week, and decided I wouldn't go for it. Mainly because if you check the MOT history, the advisories for the past 5 years are for corrosion.

And I've done enough welding on our MX5 to know that if there's an advisory for corrosion it'll be like the bottom of an old boat underneath.

I'm surprised mine never had an advisory on rust on it's previous MOT as it had it in all the usual places, sills, front and rear chassis legs, rear arches. but hopefully I've halted it a little when I wire brushed it all and treated it with fertan rust killer and primed and painted it. as it never had any advisories for body/chassis rust at the MOT in august and hopefully it should last another year at least provided the local scum can resist chucking house bricks and lumps of concrete at the poor old thing.
