Title: Dash lights
Post by: Lagondanet on 27 September 2016, 15:46:45
Backlight behind temp gauge & rev counter has just gone out! Is it a pain in the arse to fix? How? Thanks.

Removal of the dash binnacle is very nearly the same amount of time as it took you to type. So good news!  :y

Car unlocked, Key out, padlocked inside lead-lined container. Bury the container. Let no-one see you

Ping out centre vents
Find screw(s)
Remove the vent surround
You will see a screw(s) on the immediate left of the binnacle, undo
Binnacle pulls out, the left comes first, iirc
Unplug if required
find offending bulb, replace.
reversal is the etc etc...

Point 1 is there because I think, if you accidentally turn ignition on with the dash binnacle disconnected, a nasty light remains on, requiring Tech 2. Might have completely made that up, but certainly better safe than sorry  :) Apologies for the mixed sigular/plural of screw(s) can't remember the number, just their location  :)

EDIT: Must type faster!!!!  ;D ;D

OK OK I'm a lazy bastard. Just getting a screwdriver out of the box tires me out.  ;D But I'll give it a go.  :y

Scatmancraig had the binnacle out my spares car in the time it took me to walk to the boot to see if I had a screwdriver! I still think I might have narcolepsy, or something!

If you fancy a day out, it'll be done before the kettle boils :D

I gave mine a tap or knock (whichever pleases you) and the light came back on, but not too hard

One of my MID lights went out, the first drive I had in Pissy on the way to the MoT station. I said "oi!" and slapped the top of the dahs - hasn't gone out in 2 years since!  :D ;D :D

I suppose you've already tried this method? (if you have the time, of course  ;))

I'll swap it out for you in exchange for a drive in your Lagonda. Only downside for you would be I cannot promise you'll ever see it again  :D

I take it you have removed the screw behind the steering cowl?
