The new Shadow Cabinet
"Diane Abbott has been promoted to shadow home secretary"
"Shami Chakrabarti is shadow attorney"

On a more serious note and back to the point of the thread, the Shadow Cabinet. ::)
Shami Chakrabarti was appointed to the House of Lords in August of this year and a few weeks later is appointed to the Shadow Cabinet as Shadow Attorney General. Jeremy Corbyn frequently reminds his critics of his democratic mandate from the Labour Party membership, but where is Shami's mandate? ::)
It's an abuse of the system, where someone is handed a Peerage and then parachuted into the Cabinet or Shadow Cabinet and the Tories have done it too. It's high time the House of Lords became a completely democratic upper house whose members are elected by the people and is properly representative of the whole of the UK and not just vested interests from London and the home counties! ::)
I think I'll write in! >:(
