Post by: judge_dredd65 on 07 October 2016, 12:00:32

So when you turn the key all the way, nothing happens?
Or there is clicking sound from from the engine bay?

Batery low capacity?
Starter motor jammed?

there is a clicking sound from engine bay, seems to be from throttle body.

sorry battery is fine, starter solenoid does not click, so would suggest not getting power?

Start with easy -> empty/low battery. Try jump starting.
Clicking, if we are talking about the same, is form starter motor.

Can you try the pedal trick to read if there are any codes.

I have a code reader and there are no codes.

OK then.
Let's see about the clicking -> disconnec the TB if it seems it comes from there.
Also, check if the clicking is coming from the fuse/relay box in the engine bay.

Preferably in the dark. Turn on the ignition to on (but not start) so the dash lights up. Turn on the headlights and have an assistant try and crank the engine

When they do so, watch the headlights, do they dim?

Are you thinking the battery is not kicking out enough amps? I Have had a jump pack on it and it made no difference.

Switch ign. on. Unplug engine ECU, plug back in then try starting it

Nope. I'm thinking all sorts of things. Just give it a try for us :y

Check the big fuses in the box atop the battery, also check for earth.

I'd be looking at a fault with the gear lever (if manual) or ign switch. Time to get meter out :)

I suspect dead starter.

Fun to change as it involves removing o/s engine mounting.

It doesn't appear to worry the OP overmuch, as it seems he has only checked the codes thus far. :-\ :y

My '51 Reg. 2.6 has just passed its MOT with no advisories and good emission figures for the second year running and in both cases I used "Cataclean" additive a few days before the test and a fill of Shell V-Power Nitro plus an Italian tune-up!
Also, shortly before the test I drove it for at least half an hour in spirited fashion to ensure that the engine was nicely warmed up.

Ron.

Yes it is a 3.2 irmscher mv6, it has a code stating mis-fire cylinder 4, it has a irmscher stainless exhaust

That'll be why, then ;D

It'll never pass an emissions test if it's misfiring.....

Pull out the coil pack and do the usual checks.

Yeah have done, found more horrors, oil in the spark plug wells, time to check breathers and replace cam cover gaskets.

Wouldn't be an Omega if it wasn't predictable :D
