Title: Personal information
Post by: Terbs on 09 October 2016, 13:00:07
After reading Mister Rog's post in Stemo's thread, I totally agree with him regarding this information should not be widely available.
The other night, swmbo and I were discussing the age of a certain female newsreader. So I googled and a link I clicked not only revealed the age, but also gave the details of a company she was a director of. And, more importantly, her home address was there for all to see. This brings back memories of Jill Dando. It's all wrong this information is there for anybody to access. Does anger me >:(

Your information is only available, if you tick the wrong box.

Yes, but it just means certain info, ie DOB and Address can be hidden from Public Records ie, Free Searches etc, full information is still available for other types of searches example, Credit Search, Financial Bodies, which Im guessing such searches are, by whom and why, also kept on record.

Nope, not quite that simple. Before 2006 there was not even the option of hiding your home address, at least there is some protection now (at a cost) or if the person has another physical non residential address that can be used.

All of this came about due to "rogue" company directors ripping people off, and repeatedly going bankrupt and so on. In fact it led to company directors themselves being ripped off with fraudulent finance guarantees, and of course identity theft.
