Went in to pay for my LPG at the Shell just off the A33 in Reading. The lad at the counter was early-mid 20s, Asian and quite cool looking.
'Is that an Omega?' he says as I pay.
I said that it was, he went on to say that you don't see them around much anymore, and the police used to have V6 ones and how much of a nice car they were. I said my one was a V6, and he was suitably impressed. I told him it was a lovely car to drive, and it was the second one I'd owned, after regretting the sale of the first one.
I was a bit taken aback, as I've never had any 'Omega appreciation' comments before (mainly because my car is a bit tatty). But it did remind me that it actually IS a nice car to drive and there are still a few people out there (apart from us lot) who like them. The lad must've been about 12 when they stopped making Omegas.

I have spoken with Vauxhall dealers who have no idea what an Omega is. :-\

I saw a Monterey this morning, you see even less of them than omegas.

When any one asks about my Omega,I tell them that they are a money pit and also that they wouldn't like them ::) :)

The dealership that supplied & serviced mine from new had nothing but praise for them, quite suprised when I turned up in the Merc a week or so ago for the MOT & told them I had sold it, it was a really nice example.

ABS had a Monaro and went to his local vX dealer for an oil filter. Sorry, we don't stock van parts. Its a monaro. As I said, we don't stock van parts. Look out there at that bright yellow two door V8 5.7 litre coupe, that's a monaro and that's what I want an oil filter for. He walked away shaking his head when then told not a stock item

Its amazing how little some of them know about older cars especially vauxhall ones :(
