Have had some boot struts delivered but they dont want to compress trying to compress them by hand or against the wall ??? Should they or are they just heavy duty that cant be compressed by hand :-\ Just wanted to make sure they were ok before changing them over .
-
New ones should be very hard to compress. They just clip in place so should just take a couple of minutes to fit them and test.
-
As Monza said, let the bootlid/tailgate (delete as reqd.) do the work. ;)
-
Boot lid must be bloody heavy then . Still at least with the new struts it wont act like a guillotine :)

Had to use a broom handle to prop up the boot on my Mk2 Granada as someone fitted a spoiler on it and the struts weren,t up to the job ::)

Don't know what you mean... ;D :-X :-[
They were sprung, and adjusting them was more dangerous than using a grinder to remove an exhaust...

I fitted some new ones not that long ago and I could only just compress them by hand (and I go to the Gym and am handy with the weights ;)) but only a little compression was achieved - this is normal and I could compress the old ones much more.
As mentioned, let the boot do the work :y Be carefull as my boot opens all by itself when its raised by about 1/3rd open !

I sat on one of mine to compress it and it slipped, ..... well, you dont wanna know happened next.

Then you need new struts too.
