Title: wide steel rims
Post by: Bojan on 27 October 2016, 14:17:01
Does anybody have any photos of omega on wide steel rims ('banded steelies')?

Been toying with this idea in my head for a while, as I could 'build' the rims with width and, more important, ET I would like.

Are you a Coded welder? I'd suggest that unless you are you probably shouldn't.

Not a welder myself, but qualified to know how it should be done.
Cut old rim in two with lathe, tack weld-in new ring, fixate other side on a exact measurement of the tack-welded side, weld trough (be careful with heat input). TIG welded, of course.
I would get them done by a welder who is in this steel rims wideing buissines for 5 years at least.

So, I can have it done, but don't know for sure how it will look on my car.
