the price of motoring... was interesting seeing that the cost of fuel in the shetlands 'is usually six months ahead of the rest of the uk'. at 154 a litre for diesel and 145 for unleaded that makes for sobering stuff. especially when you consider they have europes largest oil store on their doorsteps...
'mondeo man' phil pratt with the supercharged 2.0 mondeo lives near me and i see his motor out and about quite a bit. its about the only mark 1 mondeo i see on the road that doesnt have its front bumper patched up with gaffa tape (whats with that by the way?).
one of the 'fuel saving tips' was:
"If you fill your fuel tank up to the brim, you may be carrying around additional fuel which in turn means that you have more weight on board than is necessary and this will itself reduce fuel efficiency."
im not convinced by this. that moneysavingexpert bloke said the same thing on gmtv. but if i fill up only with half a tank, surely that means i have to visit the pumps twice as often thus using more fuel. i would have thought the saving was pretty marginal.
food for thought though.

Have you tried picking up 75 liters of fuel? Bloody weighs alot, it's easier to pick half of that. I wouldn't like to pull that much fuel around :o

or he was permanently up for a fight. driving a mondeo i'm not surprised, he must be well pissed off.

a design fault on ford's part with the mondeo meant that any speed above walking speed would make the wind powerful enough to split the very weak bumpers, so how they got away without product recalling i'll never know, because it's definately nationwide, so therefore probably worldwide!!
