Car failed its MOT today so off i went to my stealer for a pair of rear self levelling shocks, and was told "that'll be £210 please!"
What happened to £130+vat??
i had my card with me, and had made sure it was a participating stealership, where have i gone wrong?
he took the card into the office and i could see a couple of staff looking through the blinds at me!
more seriously.. can anyone local to me maybe get hold of a pair of self levellers for my elite, part number 72119084 before tuesday??
-
I'll ring up the dealer near me see what they can do. If they get ordered tomorrow, they should be here Monday (2 day wait on TC orders)
certainly sounds like they didn't believe you about it!
£105 + VAT each regular retail on those... was the £210 with VAT or +VAT??
If it was inc. vat then they were charging you trade price, and not tc price
TC is £132.28 + VAT (155.43 inc VAT)
-
much appreciated, i booked retest for tuesday morning on the assumption that VX weren't wa**ers but never mind, i can always put off the retest a day or two! got all week off work
:y cheers
(by the way, cash is here too, no problem there!)

Hi m8 online according to the tradeclub website
shocks are
72119085 £105each retail £89.28 trade £66.14 on tc all plus vat
think they got the prices wrong again
-
Looks like they are charging you full retail not TC .... wonder why they don't accept your TC card .. :(
-
Is your TC card the ABS one?? Or actual VX TC card??
-
its the ABS one, i gave him the actual part number i found on here for self levelling saloon rears
i'm writing to them to complain anyway
-
Seem to be a few dealers not liking the ABS card :-/
Not noticed this though on the TC site till now...
The combination of applications and part numbers listed above for shock absorbers are 'Aftermarket Recommended'. If a Retailer or Trade Customer needs to make a shock absorber related claim on a vehicle still under a New Vehicle Warranty, a Sureguard Warranty or a Network Q Warranty, the correct part number for that specific vehicle must be identified by a Vauxhall Retailer using EPC for the warranty claim to be accepted
going from that, there not using GM ones no more (guess they ran out...)
-
"claim"??
either way, still need some :D

this is starting to sound familiar.. Vx shockers, exhausts, brakes have all been questioned on here recently :-/

If you post up whether you have better luck than Danny or not tomorrow. 'My' dealer has never asked for my ABS Trade Card for years, I'm sure he'd be able to help & besides I go to Wigan (Heinz) everyday.

much appreciated :y
i'm gonna nip the garage anyway and ask them to put the retest off for a couple of days since i dont really need to use the car much next week (hopefully not at all!)
so let me know when you have the parts and i'll arrange collection!
also, it is normally recommended to replace both even if only one is knackered yes?? they told me the other one was fine, should i save my money since i'm not keeping the car?
-
do the shocks have to be genuine??? :-/
-
ring up the trade club helpline and complain about the dealershit they will get a big big bollocking from Vauxhall HQ and the dealershit will write you a sorry letter like i got!
-

honestly they just have to be MOT worthy!!
(have e-mailed TC through the website, and i'm e-mailing the dealer in question with a complaint aswell!)
-
Alrite buddy. Do you definately want me to get these ordered for you today? If so say and i'll get on the phone to Vaux now and get them paid for!

i'm seriously considering only getting just one since i'm not keeping the car, tester said the other was fine, why should i replace a good one when i'm not keeping it?!
seen two part numbers for it though, searching the forum before attempting to buy yesterday i got 72119084 as the self levelling saloon shock, but on this thread have seen 72119085, is there a difference? (apart from about a quid in price?)
Before you do though, i'm gonna attempt my dealer again cos trade club have replied, will let you know hopefully in a bit
-
went back to the dealer and finally spoke to someone more competent! I've ordered and paid trade price :-) no need for anyone to do it for me now. Thanks for your offers :y
-
Looking at our yellow, january 2008 tc book, that part number is £64.88 plus vat in our book.
-
085 is for the estate.
-
gave him the 084 number and paid £77.71 :y
it'll be done on thursday and have 12 months MOT :D
-
went to VX to pick up my shock this morning, and after the hassle i had trying to get it, i got an apology cos they all got yelled at on friday, and i now have my own personal member of staff :y
-
Good stuff, now get it put on. Shouldn't take you more than half an hour. :y
