4 electrode plugs were only specified for the 2.6 and 3.2 due to the longer service intervals, but they can be fitted to the other v6s and likewise so can the 2 electrode plugs. There isn't really much to choose between them since the 4 electrode plugs generally work loose before their service interval anyway!

Seem to think I asked this a while back.

the later (2.6, 3.2) engines have four electrode sparkies. It's literally extending the service life, nothing to do with a 'better' or 'stronger' spark. A spark is a spark, a spark ignites the fuel/air mix, and that's it. But having two, or four electrodes means the wear on said electrodes is halved/quartered.  :)

But if you insist on leaving them in that long... used to change mine every 20k ;)

Any Vauxhall dealer should haggle... trade card or not... genuine four electrode plugs should be had for less than £3 :-\

I tend to change them with every cam belt change, because they easily last 40k.

I do that too, as I've never been a believer in longlife plugs. When I remember, I do pay the extra few pence for NGK rather than the factors Bosch default. That's a brand preference that I struggle to justify rationally, but a set of six was only about £15. That was almost two years ago, so I suspect they're more expensive now.

On my 525 the plugs were a more noticeable indicator than the dashboard one: just before the last light went out at about 6000miles the engine would start to misfire due to the back two plugs failing. The one set of Densos I fitted lasted about 2000miles, and I won't buy them now.
